Bald Eagle Photography Workshop

2025 dates: June 23-28, July 10-15 & July 23-28

Every year, Bald Eagles gather by the hundreds near Vancouver Island to feast on hake, a fish species in the cod family. The hake are forced to the surface by strong currents, overinflating their swim bladder and leaving them vulnerable to predators. You often don’t know where to point your lens; eagles fly down to capture hake non-stop, all-around you. You can have dozens, if not hundreds of opportunities each hour to nail the perfect action shot!

Great Bear Rainforest

2025 dates: September 5-12

From Grizzly Bears in coastal estuaries, to bubble-netting Humpback Whales, to Spirit Bears fishing for salmon, to large gatherings of Bald Eagles, the Great Bear Rainforest offers an unparalleled wildlife viewing experience. By living aboard a sailboat for a week, you will be fully immersed in the Great Bear Rainforest ecosystem.

This photo workshop takes place in one of the best regions in the world for owl photography. In addition to an incredibly high concentration of owls in the area, the winter conditions typically make for a beautiful and bright atmosphere for our images. Our primary targets will be the Great Gray Owl, Northern Hawk Owl, Snowy Owl, and Great Horned Owl! Combined with a beautiful diversity of other birds and wildlife that spend the winter in the region, there will be ample opportunities to create a photography portfolio to be proud of.
